Influencing Public Policy in the EU & UK

Focussed lobbying, paired with targeted national media relations, helped to secure changes to proposed EU & UK legislation

The Brief

Two clients operating in the physical security industry tasked SAY with bringing about changes to public policy.

One wished to lobby for stronger cybersecurity regulations in UK Central Government.

The other was concerned that proposed legislation in the EU Parliament could hamper national security.

Solution

In each case SAY began by mapping out the key politicians & departments engaged on these policies. As well as the national media outlets who could bring attention to these issues.

SAY wrote directly to the identified politicians requesting meetings & secured supporting media briefings with the likes of the BBC, Channel 4, EuroNews & The Telegraph. As a result we were invited to brief members of the House of Parliament, the House of Lords & The Cabinet Office with our recommendations.

Ultimately this resulted in a Government Announcement in the UK & the dropping of clauses in the proposed EU Bill, in line with our clients’ aims.
